I gave you my 5 simple ways to love the sun and still love your skin, but lets be honest, no matter how much sunscreen we put on we can't avoid the inevitable of the sun tanning our skin. (Unless you are one of those people who carry an umbrella, wear long sleeves, and dark glasses. This post is not for you. ha ha ha.) This means we need to change from out light winter foundation to a little darker summer foundation.
"What?! You mean I need to have two different foundation? I have been using the same one for a year."
It is true. We have two major color changes on our face with winter and summer. Winter we are lucky if we see the sun for a day or two, so our skin looses the lovely tan that we got during the summer months. That is why it is important to have the two different foundations
We have all seen those women who put on way to dark of foundation. There is always a big difference in the color of their face and neck. It is almost like a mask. Please don't be that women.
Let me show you the wrong and right way to choose a foundation that is perfect color for you.
Far left: Ivory based. Middle: Natural/Nude base. Right: Tan based
Me, I love BB Cream foundation., The reason for this is it is quick, easy, and has the best coverage for my needs. (With PCOS I never know what I am going to wake up to on my skin. Lucky Me!)
Now for a very long time we were told that the best way to find the right color was either on the back of our hand or on our chin. That is not the case anymore.
Top: Ivory tone Middle: Natural/Nude tone Bottom: Tan tone
It is a known fact that our hands and feet get the most sun. That means they are darker then our faces. That is why testing foundation on the back the hand is a bad idea. If I went by this test the Bottom: Tan tone seem like the best option. Spoiler alert, it's not. If you test it this way, you will most likely end up with a color that is to dark for your face. Then you become that lady with the white neck and dark face. Again, we do not want that!
Left: Ivory tone Middle: Natural/Nude Right: Tan tone.
This is the correct way to test your foundation. Take the foundation and place it on the under part of your chin and then down the neck. If you go back to the hand picture you can really tell the difference. It is amazing how much this tip has saved me embarrassment, and most importantly, money.
The proof is in the pudding folks. You can not see where my foundation begins or ends. I am telling you learning this trick has been a total game changer.
My new favorite filter on Snap Chat. It gets rid off all the flaws. Love tricks like that.
