On a less serious note, I had the joy of doing my CIL's (cousin in law) make up for this special holiday. For those of you who don't know the amazing Kelsey the way I do, she is a wife, working mother, and just an all around generous and thoughtful person. Your life becomes better just by meeting her let alone getting to know her.
She is a NO MAKEUP kind of girl. She told me that she puts some on for date night. That is pretty much it though. When I asked her if she would let me use her beautiful self for my blog; I could tell that she was nervous. I know her, and I know that Kels is a "low maintenance" kind of women.
Don't get me wrong, I don't think there is anything wrong with being "low maintenance." I just believe that you can still call yourself, "low maintenance" and do your makeup 4x a week at the same time. Who says you can't? Am I right? Am I "high maintenance," because I take 5 minutes to do my makeup everyday? You do what you can do as a women to make yourself feel like the best you possible. Someday's requires of effort then others and there is nothing wrong with that. (and visa versa.)
This is what I did to show her that it can be possible.
These are the products I used:
1. Magic Anti Redness 2. Concealer stick, 3. Powder 4. Bronzer 5. High Lighter powder 6. Mascara
The results:
The reason for using each product: (I promised Kelsey that I would break down each step for her so she can do it at home on her own.)
She has just grown into such a beautiful women and I just love her to pieces. I am proud to call her my CIL.
1. I only used the Magic Anti Redness liquid on her because we had been at the lake all day, and even though she applied sunscreen every 45 minutes, she still had some redness. If you don't have a very red complection, unlike me, you don't need this every time you do your makeup. You can just use it to hide any redness that might show up unannounced when you wake up in the morning.
2. I used a concealer stick instead of a full coverage foundation. She had clear skin, so she didn't need a lot of correcting or coverage that foundation provides. Plus, it is faster. I rubbed the tip of the stick on the back of my hand to make sure it was skin temperature and then applied it to her under eyes and T zone. If you don't have a lot of skin issues, like my cousin-in-law, then you don't need a foundation if you don't want to use one. Just use the concealer under your eyes and t-zone and blend. That way you still have a smooth face without the heaviness of the foundation. You can also just rub it in with your fingers. No brush or sponge necessary.
3. I used a light colored powder to set what I had already done. A lot of women use powder only. I don't think that there is anything wrong with that as long as you give yourself some kind of cheeks. If not, you will just look like you have dry and flaky skin. That is not a good look on anyone.
4. I just used my favorite bronzer and placed it everywhere that the sun would have touched her skin naturally. Some women see bronzer and freak out because they are worried that they will look like they have a 1990's self tanner tan. That is not the case. If you are not one for bright colors on your cheeks, the bronzer is for you. It is a quick easy way to give your face definition with out a pop of color. I am not going to lie, it does take practice. Like I have said in a lot of my blogs, makeup is all trial and error. Just try it!
5. I used a highlighting powder on the top of her cheeks, above/under her eyebrows, down her nose, tip of her chin, and finally on her smile lines. Are you are someone who doesn't tan or is inside all day working so you never see the sun? Then you need to highlight those areas. It gives your face a healthy glow. It is awesome!
6. Mascara was the last step. I had her do her top and bottom lashes to really open up her eyes. There is no reason for even a "Low matienance" women can sit in her car in a parking lot and put mascara on before entering a building. There is no excuse for not. Plus, who doesn't want to look more awake then they really are?
That is it. I hope that you love the results as much as I do. It was fun to make her feel more beautiful then she already is.

I love this picture of us because we actually look our age as women, in a good way, and not young girls.
That is it. I hope that you love the results as much as I do. It was fun to make her feel more beautiful then she already is.
Remember readers, I may be a jack of this trade, but I am a master of none.
