This week was a no brainier for the post. So many of you requested the same thing. I had a grown up night out with some of my dear friends and I posted this picture.
I had so many of you ask me how I got this look. You ask and you shall receive.
The crazy thing is I was and still am super sick. I have had a stupid head cold for about 5 days now. I knew I was going out and that it was going to take a lot more then my normal effort if I wanted to look some what decent. This look requires more steps then my usual day to day look. Apparently they were worth it because you all responded well to it.
Full disclosure I am still feeling horrible, so the pictures and the lighting aren't the best, and I didn't do my hair because it took all the energy I had to get my face on let alone put the effort into my hair as well. Ha ha ha. (Do you feel sorry for me yet? Ha ha ha)
Items I used:
I warned you it was a lot more then I usually do, but it doesn't mean it isn't any thing you can't do yourself at home.
1. Moisturizer. 2. Primer 3. Foundation 4.Concealer 5. Dark Contour Concealer 6. Dark Contour powder. 7. Light Concealer 8. Translucent Powder 9. Bronzer. 10. Peach highlighter 11. Blush 12. Highlighter Powder 13. Brown Eyeliner 14. Brown Mascara
This is honestly how I have looked for the past week.
Step 1. I put one my Moisturizer first. Let it settle into my skin and then I used my primer. I pat my primer on my face instead of rubbing it in. It makes it so the pores absorb it better. (At least that is what I read.) I then let that set in for another 2 to 3 minutes.
Step 2. Foundation and under eye concealer.
I started taking better care of my skin since my post of, "A contionary tail," a couple of weeks ago. That meant for this look I got to use my light weight BeBe cream foundation instead of a full coverage foundation. (I only use a thicker full coverage foundations for days when my skin is broken out or I forget to put sunscreen on and I have lots of red dry patches.) After dabbing, NOT RUBBING, the foundation into my skin, I use my favorite under eye concealer. I dab it down the side of my nose and across my under eye. Then I take my beauty blender and again, dab it on to my skin.
Step 2. Contorting with liquid and powder.
This is a technique that is taking over the make up industry. This is not an everyday thing by any means. I only do this on special occasions or if my face is feeling particularly round and I want it to have more dimension. Normally I would just use the powder, but because I was feeling under the weather, my skin needed more brightening. This is definitely a trial and error step. I still don't have this down packed.
I found a concealer that was about 3 shades darker then my skin tone. I then placed the liquid under my cheek bones, on the my hair line, the tip of my nose, and because I have a round head, I drew a line all along my chin line. I then took my beauty blender and started with my cheeks. I patted the concealer in and then motioned up and down to make it look more even. I then went to the forehead and blended into my hair line. You need to do that because make it look more natural. Last I took the blender to my chin and first patted the color to give my face the definition that it needed. I then took a big blush brush, and in small circular motions made sure everything blended and look natural. I then took the dark contour powder and did a little extra under my cheeks because I wanted them to pop. (It was for a fun night out. Why not?)
Step 3. Liquid Highlighting
For this step I used a concealer that was 3 shades lighter then my skin tone. I first make a triangle from the corner of my eye, down the side of my nose, and to the top of my cheeks. I then take it and run it down the length of my nose, the tip of my chin, and finally the corners of my mouth. I then use my beauty blender and blend blend blend. This brightens up your entire face. It sounds and looks like a lot, but honestly I am using very little. I HATE feeling my make up on my skin. Weird I know, but I know how to do it well enough now that I can hardly feel it. (Showing off I know.)
Step 4. Translucent Powder
I just took the powder and patted it on all of the areas that I highlighted so it wouldn't run.
Step 5. Bronzer, Peach Shimmer, and Blush
I used bronzer on all the places that the sun would naturally kiss my skin. Then I used a peachy shimmer blush all over my cheeks to give it a healthy glow, and finally a little bit of pink blush just to give them that extra pop that they needed.
Step 6. Highlighting powder, brown eyeliner, brown mascara
I take my brush and run it across all three highlighting colors in the pallet. I then take the brush and make a c shape movement from the top of my cheek bones to the center of my brow line. You can repeat this step till you get the desired highlighting. I then took the lightest highlighting color and put it in the corner of my eyes, (Where the tear duct is,) and all over my eye lid. I didn't use to much because this color can wash out your face if you use to much. Then I just used my brown eye liner to give my eyes some shape. I then finished the look with brown mascara. When I am wearing a neutral color I always go for brown. It makes my blue eyes more blue.
Final Results.
Not bad for someone who can only breath threw her mouth right now. Ha ha ha
